On Friday 12th February, Operation TROJAN was deployed in Lancaster, Morecambe & Carnforth.
This operation used Special Constables, Police Community Support Officers and staff from the Safer Travel Unit travelling in decoy taxis to observe and detain people involved in anti-social behaviour and crime on public transport networks.
During the course of the evening 190 young people were engaged with, 65 litres of alcohol was confiscated, 24 Youth Referrals were issued to young people who were underage and in possession of alcohol and 3 Direction to Leave notices were issued; these notices ban a person from an area where their presence is likely to cause or contribute to the occurrence of alcohol-related crime or disorder.
A vulnerable young female was taken home for her own safety. Also, a vulnerable young person who had been reported as missing was found safe & well and returned to carers.
This operation was a huge success and really demonstrates the strong working partnership between Lancashire County Council's Safer Travel Unit and Lancashire Constabulary in their joint efforts to combat the underlying causes of anti-social behaviour within local communities.
